iPhone sale used as lure for armed robbery
FAIRFAX, Va. - Fairfax County Police are investigating a series of robberies where thieves have used Craigslist ads for iPhones to lure their victims.
Police have arrested two men for an incident that happened June 17 in the parking lot of a restaurant at Little River Turnpike and Oasis Drive in the Annandale area.
Police say Deshawn Derr, 25, of Alexandria, Va., and David Ramsey, 39, posted an ad to sell several jailbroken iPhones to a buyer. When the buyer, Derr and Ramsey met in the parking lot around 11 p.m., one of them produced a gun and robbed the victim of his cash and fled.
The victim was able to identify a license plate, and the two men were subsequently arrested.
Derr and Ramsey have been charged by police with robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Police believe there may have been up to a dozen such robberies over the past three months in the D.C. area, and that many similar incidents have not been reported to police. Potential victims should contact Detective John Vickery at 703-246-7800.
Police also say that anybody using the internet to setup meetings to buy or sell goods should use caution, meet during daylight hours and to not go alone.

Apple began selling so-called "unlocked" iPhone 4's this week via its US online store. "Unlocked," in this case, means that the phone isn't partial to one carrier or another—any supported GSM wireless carrier can be the one you use.
If this formula holds true for the unlocked iPhone 4, supposedly slated for this Wednesday, the $599 price point is a good guesstimate. The speculation from industry watchers expects T-Mobile and Sprint to release unlocked iPhones later this year.

Unlocked iPhone 4 Now for Sale in USA

I recently traveled to the US with my unlocked iPhone 4 (purchased overseas) and went to (several) AT&T stores to obtain a “pay as you go” Micro SIM.
They don’t have any.
It’s not that AT&T was out of stock. It’s that the company does not sell them. Period. One store told me they sell them, but with no data plans.
The only way to get iPhone 4 service with AT&T is to sign a 2-year contract. That may change, but don’t be on it.
I ended up buying a full-size SIM, a SIMcard cutter off Amazon and chopping it down to fit the iPhone 4. After that, it worked great.
