Whenever I think of a mudslide, I usually think of it as an adult chocolate milkshake. It just has a strong refreshing appeal to it, especially on a long, hot summer day. It is a very popular cocktail very similar to the Black Russian which uses vodka, Kahlua, and Bailey’s Irish Cream and is considered a part of the Vodka drinks family. This drink may also be made by skipping the vodka or with having the glass filled with cream or milk. Making it doesn’t take long — usually just takes about 3 minutes to make. You can top it off with some chopped bananas, shaved chocolate, and some caramel. Adding Butterscotch Schnapps will make it sweeter. This drink must be shaken or blended well. It is usually served in an old fashioned glass.

Mudslides are a huge hit because it is sweet, creamy, and has a very good flavor to it. If you do want a milkshake consistency to it though, simply substitute cream for ice cream. It’s one sure way of treating yourself.
